STATEMENT OF RATIONALE FOR JUDGMENT OF COMPLIANCE

Southwest Texas Junior College has assembled a collection of administrative and academic officers with wide and varied experience and training. They have come from within the institution “through the ranks” as well as from the private sector and other colleges and are well qualified to lead the college. Total of 14.5 years of experience in higher education administration.  One year as SWTJC VP of Student Services: Serves as Chief Student Services Officer: Supervises Financial Aid Director, Registrar, Advising activities, Campus Police Chief, Outreach Director and Testing Center Director. Eight years as SWTJC Tech Prep/Outreach Director, two years as SWTJC Tech Prep/Outreach Assistant Coordinator and Coordinator. two years as SWTJC Instructional Supervisor/EL-Civics Coordinator in ABE, and one and a half years as GED Instructor/Supervisor for the 38th Judicial CCR in Uvalde, Texas

Mr. Joe Barker

Two years as SWTJC VP of Administrative Services.  Serves as Chief Officer for Physical Plant, Student Housing, Food Services, Long-Range Planning for Construction, Renovation, and Maintenance. 15 years as SWTJC Dean of Students; 22 years as SWTJC Counselor/Advisor and Student Activities Director; 13 of the 22 years as SWTJC Counselor/Advisor and Student Activities Director Mr. Barker was also the Campus Housing Director and Dormitory Supervisor.
